How to apply

Thank you for your interest in joining Mandelbaum House!

Mandelbaum House is fully booked for Semester One 2026. We are maintaining a waitlist and continue to accept applications in the event that places become available. Interviews will only be offered if a vacancy arises.

We are also accepting applications for Semester Two 2026, with interviews scheduled to begin in April 2026.

We welcome applications from both Australian and international students who will be 18 years or older at the time they move into Mandelbaum House. All students must also be enrolled full time at the University of Sydney.

All new residents need to arrive by 10am on our commencement date of Sunday 15 February 2026.

To apply, please complete the following steps:

  1. Submit the online application form.
  2. Arrange one referee to complete the online referee report.
  3. Pay the $100 application fee.

Once we receive your completed application, we'll contact you to arrange an interview.
All applicants are interviewed by the CEO before an offer is made. Interviews are held in person at the college, or via Zoom if needed.

How to confirm your place

If your interview is successful, you will receive a Letter of Offer and a Residency Agreement via email. The Letter of Offer will include the timeframe for completing the next steps.

To confirm your place at Mandelbaum House, please complete the following:

  1. Return your signed Residency Agreement to admin@mandelbaum.usyd.edu.au
  2. Complete the New Resident Family Form
  3. Pay the security bond ($1,500) and registration fee ($460)

Your place will be secured once all of the above have been received within the timeframe outlined in your offer.

Referee form - Applicants are required to contact somebody who will serve as their referee. A referee may be a school principal, employer, teacher, religious leader.

New resident family form - This form is for students who have been offered a place as a new resident at Mandelbaum House.
You will be referred to this form when you receive your Letter of Offer.
